Savour a taste of Edwardian grandeur

The Hall

Southcliffe Hall is a house where you can relax. Take tea on the lawns of the Victorian terraces below the house, or enjoy a glass of wine on the first floor balcony overlooking the sea. In winter, catch up on a favourite book curled up on deep sofas by the log fires in the drawing room.

The Hall is essentially late Victorian/Edwardian, with much of the grandeur reflects its Victorian literary owner/vicar, who welcomed many notable contemporaries to Lee including George Elliot. A more recent owner fitted carefully chosen idiosyncrasies from a stately homes and churches. To this grand (if somewhat eccentric!) feel we have added our own touches reflecting our global travels, and important twentieth century comforts.

Our land is as beautiful as our home. You are welcome to wander through our gardens, including our redisovered sunken garden, as well as our seventeen acres of private deciduous woodland.  Wander along old cart tracks, past natural springs and old wells. Enjoy the sight of snowdrops and daffodils, and in particular the bluebells which carpet the woodland in April/May.
